Devon donation

Devon Canada Corp. recently announced a donation of $124,000 to the United Way of Grande Prairie & Region, the largest ever for the annual campaign.

It is also the largest corporate contribution made to the United Way.

Of this amount, $71,000 comes from Grande Prairie, $20,500 from Valhalla and represents a 30% increase over last year, and another $31,000 is from Devon's Fairview office during its first-ever United Way campaign.

The money was raised via online auctions, prize raffles and unique fundraising initiatives including a skeet shoot, which raised nearly $8,000 and was attended by more than 70 Devon employees, contractors and local service providers.

"The employees in the district are getting a better understanding in the value of the United Way and what we as employees can do to contribute to the communities we work and live in," said district superintendent Rob Petrone. "And we were successful in bring the Fairview district into our campaign this year, which is new for them, and they contributed significantly to it as well."
