We will have your packages available for pickup during the sessions. Costco has donated $14,000 in supplies and Staples $9,000 in Gift Cards which will be divided into three (3) local school districts for kids across the region. The United Way “Tools for School” program recognizes the fact that many children in our community arrive at school without even the most basic school supplies. Without the proper tools, it is difficult to succeed in the classroom. The goal of “Tools for School” is to ensure that all students have the supplies they need for classroom success. United Way, Grande Prairie & Region will wrap up the community “Tools for School” program in preparation for the beginning of the 2011 school year : Wednesday, September 7th at 4 p.m. at the United Way office in Centre 2000. The success of this program would not be possible without the help of Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd., and Staples who provided convenient bins for easy drop off for generous citizens in our region. Costco also donated 300 backpacks stuffed with supplies and Staples collected materials & monetary donations. “United Way is working toward improving lives and building communities by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action. This will ensure that we help kids be all they can be and that they grow up great.” comments The Grande Prairie Public School District, The Grande Prairie Catholic School District and The Peace Wapiti School Division assist in the distribution to schools so that students attending all district schools will have easy access. Families requiring this assistance should contact their school principals.
